Guys come to Soteria straight from prison, often with just the shirts on their backs. We are always in need of mens clothing and shoes.
Our job training program, Soteria at Work, is bursting at the seams with orders for reclaimed wood artifacts and furniture. As we grow, so does our need for carpentry tools and technology. The tools increase our capacity while computers and software enable us to teach and use 3D modeling for the pieces we build.
Here is a quick list of items to donate:
- Mens clothing
- Mens shoes
- Carpentry Tools

Be a Pen-Pal
You would never believe the difference a Pen-Pal can make. When guys talk about what helped them decide to turn their lives around, they often credit a Pen-Pal or mentor. Someone from the outside community who cares and stays in touch with them can make all the difference.
Soteria CDC will match you with an incarcerated individual, and all letters to and from your Pen-Pal will be sent through Soteria and screened.
If you are interested in becoming a Pen-Pal, email or call us!
Soteria CDC centers around faith in Christ. We believe that all things are possible through the love and redemption we find in Christianity. The power of prayer astounds us, and so we ask that anyone who prays to think of and pray for Soteria and the families impacted by incarceration.
Mentors take the time to visit an incarcerated individual on a regular basis and spend time both getting to know them and also providing encouragement and support. Consistency is key here. Mentors can decide with their mentees how often to visit, but once set – their job is to be a source of stability and trust.
Soteria CDC pairs mentors with incarcerated men – please email or call us if you are interested.
Soteria House is the first home that guys have after leaving prison. We take a lot of pride in making that home a welcoming, relaxing, supportive place with resources for self-improvement… whether that be books, tools for cooking, or tending a garden.
We believe that nurturing anything – from people to animals to plants – heals. We invite anyone interested in gardening to help establish landscaping around Soteria with plants that our guys can water, trim, and care for.
We need help.
The guys that enter Soteria have spent years or even lifetimes engulfed in a world where trust, stability, and healthy relationships are foreign entities. They come to Soteria to start a new life, but that is not an easy task. We need professionals to help treat and guide these men, so we are always looking for:
- Medical Care
- Substance Abuse Counseling
- Relationship Counseling
- Financial Management
Please call us at 864.272.0681 if you would like to help.
Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!
We can’t say it enough. Employment may be the most critical component of what we do at Soteria. If men cannot find work, they will return to the streets. At Soteria, we not only want to find jobs for our guys, but we want to help them build a career in their fields of interest.
We match guys who want to own restaurants with jobs in hospitality. We help those with a future in a salon enroll in Barber training. If a guy has a dream career, then Soteria goes out into the community to find opportunity for that dream to become a reality.
Work with us.
Our men have completed life skills training, financial management classes, and have first held down jobs under our own umbrella with Soteria At Work.
Here is what we ask:
Get to know him first. Then decide if you think a crime committed so many years ago should prevent this person from employment.
Call us at 864.272.0681 to discuss potential opportunities.
Any financial donation is much appreciated. Your support helps us maintain the food, shelter, and job training programs that Soteria provides.
